What Is This?

Obscure Folk Machine is a place where you can either:

Commission me to put a unique design on just about anything I suppose. (There is a list of what I've already done work on up ^there^.)
OR

Choose out of any designs I have uploaded. (This would be located in the "Themes" section at the bottom of the page; there are currently none.)

What's The Point?

I'm doing this in the attempt to raise some money, while still being able to have enough time to focus on my stupid, stupid studies. The money is going towards this little dream of mine to open up my own restaurant/cafe/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. I don't exactly feel comfortable explaining exactly what said establishment is going to be like now since I'm paranoid of losing the idea to the interwebz, so get in touch with me if you'd care enough to hear about it.

My First Try (They're Not Done Yet Though...)


So if the post's title didn't clue you in, this is the first pair I've attempted to customise. They're actually a pair for a friend of mine. I'm making them as a surprise Christmas present. Yeah, I know. I'm just a little late, but hey. I'm states away. How's THAT for an excuse?! So yeah. These are still not done, but I'm pretty proud of them nonetheless.

Heeeey Everybody!!!

Hey world! My name's Ryan and this is my new blog: Obscure Folk Machine. Don't ask about the name because I'm not exactly sure myself. Anyways, I recently discovered how fun it was to customise shoes as unique art pieces. Post-discovery, I decided why not offer these to people OTHER than my friends. I'm not exactly sure I know what the hell I'm doing, but the few people who HAVE seen my first pair think that they're pretty sweet. If you think so you might be interested in commissioning me to make you some.

Basically, I get blank, slip-on shoes and scribble whatever nonsense you desire onto it and apply a bit of fabric proctector (to help prevent staining and waterproof them) and YOU pay ME money! Pretty simple. Right? Great part about it is, Ryan isn't that interested in money since - even though I understand it's worth - it's pretty valueless to me. I just like the idea of sharing with others, so I'm going to ask for somewhere around $70.00 per pair considering the shoes I got this first time were $42.00 EXCLUDING tax and an inevitable shipping cost, leaving me with a minor profit. I find that to be rather reasonable. If you disagree you can explain why to me or take your money and shove it up your WHAT?!
